I have two projects that I would like to share with you. 1. Sound is Art - margaretnoble.net/soundisartThis is an international sound art site that has about 400 subscribers. I am always looking for new submissions to share work. Please view the submission page on the site for more details. 2. Orwell 1984 Remix Album - I am seeking supporters and listeners of this recording. This project started with a 1950's vinyl of broadcast radio. In the project I pull samples from the original vinyl record and modern media to produce an experimental electronic music album. Instrumentation includes analogue synthesizer, beats, acoustic instruments, voice and field recordings. The project is run through Kick Start. I recognize that folks are sometimes turned off by this type of self promotion. But, I think we all know how hard it is to get your work out there and if you look at the project carefully I think you will find my intentions are solid and the work is at the very lest unique. :-) kck.st/aP1SQrPreview track can be heard here: margaretnoble.net/blog/safer-is-better/Please take a listen. Looking forward to hearing from you! Margaret _________________ margaretnoble.net/margaretnoble.net/soundisart

You know, I totally find promoting my work essential. I am the best advocate to get it out there since I don't have an agent. The Sound is Art site is going phenomenal. It is great to hear work from others around the world.

Hi Margeret, SO do I - Im not sure quite how to let people know about this group but I guess Ill just leave it and hope it takes root. So you dont have an agent - how come ? I started to get some properly paid for soundart recently and I am thinking I might get one for myself - but do agents even exist for sound artists and if so how do you go about getting one ? I find promoting myself a little bit odd because Im never quite sure the best way fo going about it - however you seem to have pulled it off quite succesfully. I will subscribe to your group this week and send something in plus give you more feedback on the sounds. I want to play and install as much as possible this year - I feel very inspired !

Ok, I am back and damn I wish I was able to get email notifications when you all write to this post. Then I wouldn't fall behind :-) - Ok on self-promotion vs. agents: not sure if there are sound art agents but there are clearly experimental music agents. I think when you get to the big time, an agent can be tremendous. But, if you are small fish like me then I think only you can advocate for yourself properly. Yes, it is exhausting and sometimes odd but totally worth it!! You know your work the best and you know what opportunities are best for you! You are the most passionate! - Kickstarter? - I think they are awesome! You can't count on them for finding your funding but their platform is super positive and sharp. They love artists. The trick is to hustle your project yourself. I am now at 43% and it is exciting but also an emotional roller coaster. But, a great opportunity. I do have a project update, the work is premiered on the international public radio site, "Art on Air" www.artonair.org/archives/j/content/view/3138/Hope to hear from you all!!
